One of the ASAP Lab’s primary goals is to ensure our research is disseminated among the broader autism community in British Columbia. With this aim in mind, the ASAP Lab is starting a talk series! Autism Evidence ASAP will unpack timely and cutting-edge findings from research regarding the experiences of anxiety and stress among autistic individuals.
These events will take place on select Wednesdays from 6PM – 7PM. Our first event occurred on December 5th, 2022, where ASAP Lab Director, Dr. Connor Kerns discussed what research tells us about how to recognize anxiety and stress-related conditions in autistic children and why it’s not so straightforward. If you missed the session, you can watch the recording here!

Hello Dr. Kerns I am so happy to discover the ASAP department at UBC.
I am an alumni of UBC and UVIC and have spent a good part of my career working with families raising children with autism as well as working with adolescents and young adults diagnosed with ASD. In addition I am a mother of two sons with autism ( both diagnosed in grade 3) but they are now ages 17 and 19.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching all the presentations uploaded here and look forward to more. I am curious how I might be involved with ASAP given that 90% of my practice is filled with clients diagnosed or not yet diagnosed ASD.
With Much Care,
Shauna Paynter BSc, PDPP, MA, RCC
